Camille Pissarro (1830-1903) was one of the original and one of the leading French Impressionist painters. He exhibited his paintings in all eight of the Impressionist exhibitions. He was an influence on Cezanne and Gauguin. Pissarro was influenced by the Barbizon and the Pointillist schools of painting. He was one of the first to use broken color to obtain effects of light, particularly in landscape paintings. He was a prolific painter and produced landscapes in wide range of media.
