Lightroom 3 gives you the ability to create more than one catalog and switch back and forth between them. You can have separate catalogs for Vacations, Sports, Hobbies etc. It's a simple process to add and use multiple catalogs and if you have a collection approaching 20 or 30 thousand images you should give this feature a try. Give your Photos a name that makes sense instead of having something like DNG 0054jpg
Lightroom was designed to keep you organized so you might as well start with the name you give to your Photos. If you never bothered to name your Photos in the past, then they will come into Lightroom with that non-descriptive name your camera gave it. It's very easy to rename them so lets get busy.
