Victorian Paintings & a Tea Party
Victorian Paintings & a Tea Party
The Victorian Series
I paint in series, anything from realism to impressionism. I painted a series of artwork that I titled "The Victorian Series". They are paintings of beautiful goddess women who I hired to model for me. I rented vintage costumes and set up a tea party with bone china tea cups and a silver tea service. It was a glorious day! This lens will also offer details for providing a tea party with wonderful treats as well as a poem I wrote.. I am also a poet and sculptor. . The IMAGE is of my painting...

Bernard Buffet - Expressionist Painter
Bernard Buffet - Miserabilist
You may not recognize the name Bernard Buffet but you'll almost certainly recognize his artwork and distinctive style: - thick black lines and outlines - angular and elongated depiction of his subjects - somber colors - tense facial expressions and limb orientations- - general feeling if loneliness and unhappiness, even with "happy" subject matter He was an Miserabilist (French Expressionist Painter) very closely associated with American Mid-century style art but his art is as alive today as...

My husband introduced me to graphic art a few years ago. At first in my mind, there was no way this could be real art. But I soon found out different!! When you are working with graphic art programs such as Bryce, you are working with a blank screen and add things to it. While you are creating the picture the screen in front of you is all wire framed. As you add an object, you create the color, texture, shape and size. For example, my Triple Moon symbol. I start with five spheres and change...

Sister Wendy Taught Me All I Know About Art
Sister Wendy Taught Me All I Know About Art
Who's Sister Wendy?
Sister Wendy is the lovable nun and art critic, who became one of the most unlikely celebrities of the 1990s. Her instructional programs on BBC featured her critiques of famous paintings. Eventually a multi-part documentary was made of the "Grand Tour" in which she visited the great art museums of Europe. These were shown on PBS in the United States. Sister Wendy followed up her European tour with a tour six of America's art museums. I learned a lot from Sister Wendy's art documentaries. She...

Marine artist and conservationist Wyland
Who is Wyland?
Wyland (born Robert Wyland in 1956) one of the foremost marine artists in the world. He is best known for his Whaling Walls, huge murals painted on the side of buildings. In addition to his fine art work, he is a noted conservationist, focusing on marine conservation (naturally). He founded the Wyland Fo...

The Whaling Walls of marine artist Wyland
100 Whaling Walls
Twenty-seven years in the making, Wyland's Whaling Walls are dedicated to the concept of ocean conservation. These huge murals on the sides of buildings hopefully will inspire all those who view them to do their part before, like certain of the Walls, the sea creatures painted become extinct. This painting series was completed in 2008.

FINE art or FOLK art?
FINE art or FOLK art?
Is fine art overrated?
FINE art or FOLK art? Fine art and folk art are so hard to define, that even wikipedia gives up on it. Still, fine art is for rich people, upper class, educated. It's sponsored by a few people in high places, including the government. It's supposed to be different, make you think, keep you challenged. Folk art on the other hand is rooted in the soil, it's usually figurative, it's popular, it's comforting, it's familiar. I made the picture to the left. Is it fine art? Is it folk art? Or is it ...
