Knitting - A Sad Story With a Happy Ending
Stuggling to Learn to Knit
Do you see this poor duck in the picture to the left? That's me and this is not a learn to knit story like all the other learn to knit stories. I decided to learn to knit a few of years ago and just don't understand what I'm doing. I feel like a duck out of water. It's not that I can't knit. I can. But I don't have the knack for creating something that looks like it is supposed to be. For instance, I tried to knit squares for a quilt. Being a mathematician, you'd think I knew what a square sh...

These kits contain what you need for a first project, yarn, needles, pattern and most importantly, instructions ...

I-cords; How to knit and use them
I-cords; How to knit and use them
What is an I-cord?
An I-cord is formed by knitting a small number of knit stitches (usually 3-6) on double pointed needles without turning the work. If you can knit, you can make an I-cord. They can form a decorative tie on a knit gift bag, be used to create flowers for embellishing a sweater and much more. With the I-cord you have a "ribbon" that is stronger than a strand of yarn itself. In the center of the picture to the left, there are 6 - 1" sections of I-cord. The tails of yarn on either end were then ti...

Learning to Knit
I learned how to knit when I was in 5th grade. It was a rainy day so we had indoor recess, and my teacher decided to show my friend Lindsay and I how to knit. Knitting spread through my entire class, until many of us (boys included) would knit during any chance we could get. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have someone who will teach them to knit, and is present to answer questions when they arise. These knitting books are some of the best learn to knit resources that you can bring home ...
