Why I Paint
I've always been a creative person. I can remember getting a drawing kit for Christmas one year. I had tried to enter those drawing schools, you know the ones. They were the ones with ads in the back of magazines, inviting you to draw a figure and submit for consideration. I think if I would have drawn a stick figure they would still have asked me to join their art school. That's marketing for you. My husband bought me my first watercolor kit. I was inspired, you see, by a scene of a characte...

Living and Painting in the North Country
The North Country is a northern pike, striking hard. It is the plaintive cry of the loon, bouncing off the waters surface and wandering through the pines like a restless ghost. Watercolor pencil projects
Watercolor pencil projects
Watercolor pencils or water soluble pencils are a favorite medium of mine. It looks like a regular pencil color but the color dissolves when water is added to it. The color run can be manipulated by the amount of water and how you apply the brush on the colors. This is a wonderful way to turn a pencil drawing into a water color, especially for novices like me.
