Top 10 Books for Lazy Summer Reading
My Holiday Booklist for 2011
This is a top ten list of my best holiday books! What can be better than having a great book to read by the beach or in the park, letting yourself fully relax. Heaven! What makes the perfect summer reading list? The best holiday read for me is one that immerses me into another person's world, with originality and imagination. I like a variety of genres, but the most essential factor for a great book is one that stays with me afterwards, one that I will probably pick up again the following su...

List of the Books Featured on Fareed Zakaria GPS
Fareed Zakaria hosts his own show (Fareed Zakaria GPS) on CNN every Sunday in which he comments about current, global events and interviews experts about them. While most news programs focus on one topic inside the country for most of a news hour Zakaria creates an entertaining show that goes over a variety of issues which many other programs completely ignore. Every week he recommends a book for reading at the end of his show and after being a fan of the show for years I want to share those ...

My Life's Top Ten Book List
My Favorite Self-help Books Include Tips on Marriage, Fibromyalgia, Grief, and Writing
Why do you read? Do you choose books based on a review, a friend's recommendation, or a top author list? I've picked books for all those reasons and discovered some wonderful books. Some books are more special because I searched for answers to life issues beneath their covers. In fact, I think there are books that define certain stages and successes in my life. In this lens, I'm sharing that book list with you. I must have a million books. Okay, that's an exaggeration, but I have a lot ... i...

Los Angeles Times Book List for 2011
One December weekend a 28 page Gift guide to books came with the Los Angeles Times Sunday paper. The Holidays are over, but use the list for your reading for the coming summer. You will have a good list of what is hot in books and easy access to Amazon to see what is available for the new Kindle. I have to be truthful; I have only read a couple of books all year. One never hit any reading list and the other one is from last year. I read mostly magazine articles, from Nat Geo, Smithsonian an...

My Book List 2011
What I Read in 2011
Reading is one of my favorite pastimes, whether it's a printed, bound book or on my iPad doesn't matter. I love both. And I am particular about what I read, meaning that I usually read books that I've researched, that have been recommended to me, or are on a topic I am really interested in. On this page you will find the books I read in 2011, and what I thought of them. In 2011, I studied the works of the contemplative monk, Thomas Merton. My word for the year was "fearless" so some of my ...

Books from "Stossel" - 2011
Every week on Stossel there's some book (or two or three) mentioned that strikes me as being worth taking a look at. But, alas, there is no book list on the show page. (Why? Why?) That frustrates me to no end, so I'm going to start keeping a list. Each week, I'll have any books mentioned on the show, as well as documentaries and anything else that might be of interest. Books are often mentioned as proof of the person's expertise to address the topic at hand, so they're usually relevant to th...

Books For Adventure Lovers
The Wagons West Series
This is a series of books that I read many years ago. If you're interested in American History, but like it better fictionalized, this is the series for you. They are written by Dana Fuller Ross, and they follow generations of the same families through the entire history of the United States expanding westward. There's plenty of action, the characters are well-written, and there's conflict and love throughout the whole series. Your only problem might be finding them.
