It's lovely, it's so romantic. Poor Jane in that horrible Lowood school. Then she finds a perfect job as a Governess and meets Mr Rochester and loves him and then shock, horror she is marrying him when his wife's brother turns up, but there is a happy ending.

It is interesting to note the recurrent themes of women's "place" in Henry James' Portrait of a Lady and Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre. Charlotte Bronte (1816-55) was an English novelist and poet. Her most famous work was the novel, Jane Eyre. Together with her sisters, Emily and Anne, who were also novelists and poets, Charlotte was born in a West Yorkshire moorland village. He first literary productions were offered to publishers under the masculine pseudonym, Currer Bell.
