Not really a masterpiece but Hill shows the differences between the Brits and the Chinese, between his stereotypes and the real modern age China he meets. With his humourous way Hill gives us an insight into the communist China and the Chinese after revolution. Hill begins his voyage as a volunteer, ends up in a remote place called Yuncheng, a typical new age town on the edge of farming land, teaching English to farmers and workers' children, hanging out with the Chinese and getting to know ...
