Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-94) was a Scottish novelist, short story writer, poet and essayist. His works include the novels, Treasure Island and The Black Arrow, and the story, Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde. Stevenson suffered ill-health and often traveled to countries with warmer climates which would be better for his health than the cold climate of Britain. He spent the final years of his life in Samoa in the South Pacific.
