Tony Hillerman Detective Novels About Navajo Culture And New Mexico
Where do you find detective novels, Navajo culture, Skinwalkers, Hopi culture, New Mexico landscape beauty, humor and great reading in one place? In a Tony Hillerman novel.  Tony Hillerman is my favorite author. I always looked forward to his next book. I love the way he wrote. As he told his stories, he described everything in such great detail that I feel like I know the places and the people. (1925-2008)

Tony Hillerman recently passed away (October 26, 2008)...

The Joe Leaphorn & Jim Chee Mystery Novels
I like this series of books for several reasons: (1) It has detailed knowledge of a subject/place/time that makes the books re-readable and interesting far beyond the mystery that's being solved.  In this case the place is the Navajo reserverations in the south-western USA, and the knowledge is the Navajo (and other Native American) customs of that area.    (2) The main characters grow and change and get older.  In this case, the older detective retires and the younger one is then in charge o...
