Alabama should allow DNA test for death row inmate
Urge Alabama to allow DNA test for death row inmate Thomas Arthur
The state of Alabama is refusing to allow a DNA test for Thomas Arthur, a death row inmate convicted of murder thirty years ago. Since Arthur's conviction, another man has confessed under oath to committing the crime. There are other problems with the conviction as well. In spite of this, Alabama is refusing to allow Arthur's defense team to do a simple DNA test that could prove his innocence. Image used under Creative Commons from Open Clip Art Library.

The Innocent Man by John Grisham
The Innocent Man by John Grisham - murder and injustice in a small town
In The Innocent Man, John Grisham tells the true story of Ron Williamson, a man from the small town of Ada, Oklahoma who was sentenced to death for a crime he didn't commit. This is a powerful book. Before reading it, I was 100% in favor of the death penalty. Now having read it, I believe the death penalty should be abolished. How did this book bring about such a radical change in my thinking? After I give you a brief synopsis of the story, I'll explain how this eye-opening book challenged m...

The Death Penalty
The issue of the death penalty has been debated for a long time and continues to be debated in our country. Some people think that it is absolutely necessary both morally, and as a justified deterrent. They think that the punishment fits the crime, and that violent criminals are getting no more or less than they deserve. Some question if it really is a deterrent to murder or rape, while others just don't think that killing is right even it if is as a punishment. They would prefer these people...
