The Vickers machine gun has been a stalwart of the British Army weaponry since the 26 November 1912. Based on the Maxim Vickers had purchased Maxim in 1896. The caliber of the gun was .303 or 7mm. technically classed as a heavy machine gun, it was the weapon of choice in the First World War machine gun units.
