Military Women in Combat
There have been women in combat since the human race began...
When warring tribes fought over food or men during our first beginnings, those women were undoubtedly in combat. As the centuries went on, women warriors were not considered so unusual, among others there was Joan of Arc, and Bodecia who fought as warriors. There were women in the Civil War who donned men's clothing and fought alongside their buddies, only to be found out once they were slain in battle. This is by way of explaining that women in combat are nothing new, but have been in existe...

World War II US Navy
US Navy in World War 2
This is a photo of the USS PCE 884 that my dad was on in WW II. This lens is about the US Navy in World War 2. I'm not an expert on this subject. It's something I was helping my dad with. I am going to do what I can to continue with this project. If you have information that would add to this subject, I would very much appreciate your contributions. If you see something on this lens that is an error, please let me know. Family photo

Chosin - The Korean War 60th Anniversary
The Chosin Reservoir - The Forgotten War
North Korea: November - December 1950 The War America forgot to remember! I didn't know much about this war until I went to Washington, D.C. and saw the outstanding Korean War Memorial. It was so moving. And then something happened at a family reunion that started a dialog which peaked my curiosity. I am sharing some of the information I have gathered with you on this page. Just Saying I Support the Troops Isn't Enough

Guards of Tomb of the Unknowns
The precision and pride of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery.
On a beautiful sunny day or in a day of clouds and rain or freezing cold, the Tomb of the Unknowns guards walk their steady pace with precision and pride. They are committed to this post and their duty, and it shows in their measured stride and erect bearing. Less than 20% of all volunteers are selected for training, and of those, only a small fraction are accepted as full-fledged Tomb Guards. They wear no mark of rank on their uniforms, so that they never outrank the unknown dead. Commanders...

Honoring the good guys
When I was a kid, I remember one day, my Big brother waiting for me on the front porch as I came home from school. I didn't have a great childhood or a lot of people who loved me in my world, most people just wanted to pass me on to someone else. But for my brother. He was barely 18, where ever I was he stayed in touch. He let me know he was there. This day surprised me, he had come all the way from Chicago to California to tell me, His number was up. His draft number that is. He was going in...
