Thriving Without School - Home Education in the UK
We home-school our children. 'School at home'? Well, not really. We don't follow a curriculum. We don't sit down to lessons. We don't have any structure to our days at home whatsoever. At the moment, we have no goals, no targets and no pressure. As parents, my partner and I made an amazing discovery - our children actually enjoy learning.... as long as they are interested in what they are doing. A disinterested child cannot and will not learn. Common sense? Maybe, but our journey through aut...
Unit studies that inspire learning
The story of the Underground Railroad is one that many have heard. The American Civil War, which began in 1861, ultimately became a war to determine the outcome of slavery in the United States. It was a war between the southern slave states and the free northern states. It was a time when slaves would runaway, to seek their freedom in the non-slave states and in Canada. The Story premise
I enjoy combining my writing with my love of history and so even my fictional stories have historical accuracy. This story is about a Native American girl whose family must move from the only home she has known. It combines historical details about Native American life with the upset feelings of a little girl who doesn't want to move. I have included some other lesson ideas to expand the story and study of Native American life.

Favorite Home Education Resources
After homeschooling for 8 years I have found some resources that I will never be without. My hope with this lens is to share those resources will families that are just starting out. Your best resource is likely to be your local support group. In this technological age you may even find an online support group for your area. In person meetings and park days are a great way to meet the families in your area. The second resource you should look into finding is your local library. Not a homesc...
