The Wizard of Oz was released on August 25th, 1939. The movie explores the adventures of Dorothy, the scarecrow, tin man and the cowardly lion in the wizard of oz. It is based on the novel by L.Frank Baum and adapted into a screenplay by Noel Langley, Florence Ryerson and Edgar Allen Woolf. The Wizard of Oz stars Judy Garland, Ray Bolger, Jack Haley, Bert Lahr, Billie Burke, Margaret Hamilton andFrank Morgan.

"There's No Place Like Home..."
I can still remember the first dozen (or more) times I watched this movie I had to cover my eyes every time the Wicked Witch appeared.    She was so spooky to me, and I was so worried for Dorothy and her friends.  This was long before VCR's and owning movies...you had to wait for the movie to be shown on TV, and it was only once a year (if I'm remembering it right).  And, I would always make sure I was there to watch it (and cover my eyes of course!). One of my favorite films of all time is MGM's The Wizard of OZ. Not only is it a visual masterpiece, but it has such a heartfelt, universal story that anyone can understand and love it.
