Mushrooms, Mushrooms and Mushrooms
Mushrooms, Mushrooms and Mushrooms
It's all about Mushrooms!
You guessed it, I absolutely love mushrooms too! Mushrooms complement almost any meal, they are easy to saute and add flavor, texture, and nutrients to just about anything. From appetizers and salads to main dishes and sides, mushrooms can be enjoyed in so many ways. For a quick snack, I usually just quick saute a huge pan full of mushrooms in butter and pepper and serve on top of slices of fresh crusty bread! Nobody is ever half hearted about Mushrooms
Claudius, the Emperor of Rome, was poisoned by mushrooms, as was Pope Clement VII. The Normans praised their aphrodisiac qualities and the ancient Egyptians decreed them to be food for royalty alone. These days truffles, porcini, morels, crimini, ceps, portabella, black Chinese, yellow chantarelles, cinammon caps, hon-shimeji and their cousins are no longer seen as either the food of gods or of devils. A mushroom is a healthy wholesome and altogether delicious treat Big Stock Photo

Mushrooms Are Simple To Cook And Full Of Flavour
There's something magical about mushrooms. They pop up in stories of fantasy and images of fairies. They comprise a wide range of colours, shapes and sizes. When the leaves on the trees begin to change colour and the mornings take on a chill this signals the beginning of the mushroom picking season. In many countries there are mushroom inspectors who will sort through your basket of freshly collected wild mushrooms to ensure that all are safe for eating. Since I don't know a safe mushroom fro...

Mushrooms are so GOOD for you!!
I love mushrooms, but it has not always been that way. I remember my grandmother adding them to food and because they were all slimmy and gross I would pick them out. But than I started eating them on salads during an eight year journey of being vegetarian. I also loved them on homemade pizza's. BUT then I took a college biology course and stopped eating mushrooms again (for reasons I will not mention). When I met my husband he introduced me to portabella mushrooms and my goodness I was hook...

Marvellous Mouthwatering Mushrooms
Mushrooms are a filling, nutritious 100% vegan treat that don't get nearly the attention they deserve. They are the fleshy fruiting body of an edible fungus but let's not think about that too much. Instead let's give thanks that we have such a versatile ingredient at our disposal. In my view mushrooms are at their very best in rich, buttery comforting sauces wolfed down in mid-winter but they also make for great curries, soups and pasta dishes. On this lens you'll find my a few favourite mus...

Mushroom lovers unite!!!!!!!
Mushrooms are the fruit of a fungus which takes its nourishment from organic matter rather than photosynthesize nutrients from sunlight. They thrive in dark, moist places. Mushrooms give an earthy flavor to savory recipes. See below for warning about poisonous mushrooms. Since mushrooms do not need sunlight to grow, they are available year-round. There are over 38,000 varieties of mushrooms available, over 3,000 in North America alone, with varying colors, textures and flavors. There are so...

How To Tell Poisonous Mushrooms From Edible Mushrooms
There is no simple way to tell a poisonous mushroom from an edible variety of mushroom.  There is no set of rules to help you identify which mushrooms are safe to eat.  Mushrooms are mysterious: they do not give any clues by way of colour, shape, odour or taste to guide you on whether they are safe to eat or fatally poisonous.  The only way to safely harvest and eat wild mushrooms is if you have learned exactly how to identify each known species.  It is not enough merely to learn to recognise...
