Cooking Tips
On this lens I present a few pointers to make your pursuit of cooking a bit easier and more successful. Most of these are available elsewhere, but my take on some of them is a bit different than other sources I've seen. These aren't intense "foodie" tips. The true gourmet would probably argue with some of my statements. My intent is to make simple for you to make satisfying, decent everyday meals. I've started out with three tips, but I'm sure I'll have more to come, so pl...
Learn Your Way Around the Kitchen
If you're trying to learn your way around the kitchen, you've come to the right place. And if you're an excellent cook who tends to forget things, you've also come to the right place. This is everything I've learned from cookbooks, magazines and my dear old Gram. (Well, not everything. But enough to get you started.)
Do's and Don'ts For Preparing Perfect Pasta in Your Kitchen
Pasta! Almost everyone loves pasta, from Linguine with Clam Sauce to Spaghetti and Meatballs, from Pasta Primavera to Meat Lasagna. If boiled in much water, it loses a portion of its already small percentage of nitrogenous elements. It ...

Peeling potatoes is not one of my favorite things to do. Why? Well, the first of all, the peels clog up a sink disposal so I have to either throw them in the garbage or in the compost pile. Also, my peeler is...
Vegetable Preparation Tips
When first married, many suns and moons ago, I had to learn to cook from scratch. One of the tasks I disliked immensely was peeling and chopping vegetables, oh boy, was I slow! There was no internet back then and none of my books showed how to prepare veggies properly. I just did it the best way I could, remembering how my mother and grandmother did it. However, I wanted to use peppers, chillies, garlic and all kinds of lovely things that had never found their way into their kitchens, bless '...
