Diagnosed with Breast Cancer - My Story
My Breast Cancer Story
It's "surreal", even now as I sit and stare at the url "my-breast-cancer-story", it's as if I'm writing about someone else. My children are at school, there is a bruise on my right breast from the biopsy and as I type the words it feels as if they belong to someone else...but they don't. No, it doesn't run in my family and yes, I'm only 39. Mother to a 7 and 9 year old...but it's here, and now part of our lives. When I was first diagnosed with breast cancer in mid May (2009) both my mother ...

My Breast Cancer Story Part 2
Let the treatment begin!
When I last left you on the 1st part of my breast cancer story it was July '09 and I was post-op from my lumpectomy...waiting on the pathology report. Well I am thrilled to say that not only were ALL the tumors removed (pathology reported there were 3) WITH clean margins...and the cancer had not yet spread to my lymph nodes!!! So this is certainly cause to celebrate! woohoo! :o) My mother would say "I am blessed"...I have a friend who would say "I am lucky"...I like to think that I am lucky...

Cancer Among Us
Cancer Among Us
Cancer - One of the Scariest of all Diseases
It is estimated that one in three people will contract cancer, and one in four will die from the disease. Approximately 7.6 million people die from cancer each year according to the American Cancer Society. There are more than 100 types of cancer, and each cancer type is named for the organ or tissue in which it begins. Those figures seem pretty astounding. Just what is cancer anyway? Cancer can refer to any one of a large number of diseases characterized by the development of abnormal cell...

The Pink Ribbon Lensography - Breast Cancer Lenses
Why I Created This Lens
I've been thinking about doing a cause/charity-themed lens for a while, but couldn't figure out what charity or what lens format. I was creating another lens and looking for some products to put on it when I saw some breast cancer awareness merchandise. That made me wonder if there were any main breast cancer lenses on Squidoo. What I found was all of the following lenses, each of which are set up differently and present different content. Considering it might be a pain for someone to try to ...

Breast Cancer Awareness
Breast Cancer Awareness
Breast Cancer Awareness is getting more attention these days. This means more money raised to help find a cure. Breast Cancer touches so many families, whether it's a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt or male relative who is touched by this disease. My own grandmother lost both her breasts to breast cancer. It's something that has touched my life.

Breakthrough Breast Cancer
Breakthrough Breast Cancer
Self Breast Cancer Awareness
Breast Cancer Awareness is every Month, not just October. A friend in plurk, plurked about the Pink Glove Dance for Breast Cancer Awareness today (24th November 2009)...it's a joy to watch... This lens is also about breast cancer and breast cancer awareness. This is a personal story of courage (in its many forms), friendship and laughter at a time when laughter was the last thing on my mind. This is a story of a group of strangers, the Barnet Busters. We walked with purpose and hope of a ...
