What is letterboxing?
Letterboxing is part treasure hunting, part map skills, and part stamp artistry. Sounds cool, huh? Letterboxers use map skills to decipher clues to find hidden stamps. The discovered stamps are then stamped into the finder's log book. The finder will also stamp their stamp into the found log book. And then, you are on another adventure. Viola! This lens will highlight the basics of the hobby of letterboxing and will have you out looking for your first box soon!

A Hobby For All Ages
Remember how much you loved treasure hunting when you were a kid? How about collecting things? Some of us never grew up -- letterboxing is a perfect hobby for us. Letterboxing is an activity that involves following clues to locate a hidden treasure. Sometimes the treasure is inside a building, but most of the time it is outside. It's a great family activity that can lead you to discover new places and learn interesting bits of history.

We have been avid letterboxers for a couple years now. While we have always enjoyed nature walks and getting outdoors, letterboxing provides that added appeal of a little treasure hunt. As we began to exhaust the number of letterboxes in our local area that we hadn't yet discovered, we picked up Geocaching. Coincidentally - this was shortly after I received a new iPhone for my birthday ... preloaded with the Geocaching app. :) We go rain or shine ... and on a few occasions, we've even 'boxed...
