I guess more experienced gardeners know this, but I didn't have a clue about heirloom seeds. You see, I'm a sporadic gardener. I had always thought that if you took the seeds out of any fruit or veggie and planted them, you'd yield a crop. Boy, was I mistaken. It seems that most seeds you'll find in the stores or in your supermarket produce, for that matter, are "hybrids." And 'hybrids' by and large are sterile.
