My lifetime love for house plants
House plants have always been an important part of my life, no matter what my age, no matter where I lived. Whenever I visit my memories, I always see a certain plant in its perfect spot on a window seal in my parents' home, thriving and showing off so profoundly that our plants never ceased to be the topic of conversations with our guests. Exploring The World Of African Violets
I enjoy gardening and I love flowers. Taking care of African Violets is a lovely way to have both. With all the varieties of African Violets available, it didn't take long to find ones I wanted. Some African Violets are prized for their gorgeous blossoms and some for their striking variegated leaves. I like the African Violet plants with the two- and three- colors in their leaves. When windows aren't an option, plants can help clean the air quicker, resulting in a more...

How to Care for Houseplpants
I have a bad habit of killing houseplants - or at least until recently. My neighbor brought me over a beautiful plant with nearly-blooming orange flowers. This time, the plant came with instructions. She said that the shop owner said not to over-water. Just mist the soil with water every once in a while. I listened and the plant is thriving. You know what's even better? The cat hasn't even gotten into it. I love houseplants now and I've since learned a lot in how to care for them. This lens ...

The Wax Plant, which I call the Hoya
One of my plants is called the Wax Plant or Hoya. It produces clusters of tiny pink flowers and then it drops them. The plant is one that must be rootbound before it produces any blooms. My plant is almost ten years old and I started it from a single cutting. It was almost seven years old before I saw my first cluster of blooms. I was ELATED!
