Classical Music
Fun Facts About Classical Music
A lot of the insight and facts for this classical music lens came from my significant other, Jim. He has been listening to classical music since he was 2 years old. (At two, I was listening to "I Have a Dog, and Bingo is His Name".) Anyhow, every so often he will put on a classical music CD and as the music plays, he throws out these interesting facts about the composers and the circumstances surrounding the music. I am going to share that information with you. Photo courtesy of morgueFile...

Classical music
These days, mainstream music has become mostly electronic, being based on the way some buttons are pressed instead of actual instruments. Teenagers are now listening to these popular songs mainly because it is cool and all their friends have this kind of music on their iPhones or iPods. Even though listening to classical music might not make you cool, it will definitely have a great impact on you. Although there are some good songs created in the last decade, nothing will ever compare to clas...
Laudate Dominum must be one of Mozart's greatest achievements. A glimpse of heaven.
For me Laudate Dominum has to be one of the most beautiful melodies ever written. This song will move you to tears. The first time I heard Mozart's Laudate Dominum was on Classic FM where it was sung by the wonderful soprano Barbara Bonney The work forms part of the Vesperae Solennes de Confessore, and was composed in September 1780. Famous music piece by Sergei Prokoviev
"Peter and the Wolf" belongs to the first pieces of classical music I ever listened to as a teen. We had a large library of LPs at home (I belong to the generation which grew up with LPs, yes!). Both of my brothers played a musical instrument - one played the piano and the other one the clarinet. Listening to "Peter and the Wolf" I learned to recognize musical instruments and to associate them with animals, but also with feelings like happiness, joy or sadness.
Let's talk about Music
Let's talk about music is a page full of music and I dare to state here that I'm an illiterate as it comes to music. Mind you, I do like music, not all of it, but still a fair amount of it. Problem is that is the only thing I know. I like classical music (Beethoven, Mozart, Vivaldi), I like the Old Jazz, I like Reggea, I like Country Music (most of it), I like Pop Music (sometimes), I like Folksongs (specially the Irish folksongs), but please, except for the classics, don't ask me names of wh...
Music makes People content too
Cats are born with a gift for music. Some people may not agree with me but I want to make one fact clear. The truth is that it was us who taught you to appreciate the finer aspects of the artistic form of auditory communication. I am, of course, aware of the sadly diminished human range of hearing, but you are still capable of producing musical scores which, at times, border on the magnificent. Here's a collection of feline-inspired pieces to prove it. Exhilarating stuff, even if not full...
