As far as the music of the 1980s goes, The Go-Go's were the queens of the decade. Born from the Los Angeles punk rock scene in the late 1970s, The Go-Go's rose from a all-female novelty act, to a band of significant historical importance. In the 80s, The Go-Go's established themselves as a major piece of the musical landscape.

"The Go-Go's" are an All American female pop band who hit it big in the 80s. The original "The Go-Go's" band formed in 1978. By 1980, the original band had replaced the original drummer, the original bassist and added a new lead guitarist/keyboardist. "The Go-Go's" hit single "We Got the Beat" released in 1985 became their biggest hit of all time. Belinda Carlisle is the lead singer and a founding member of one of my favorite 80's groups, The Go-Go's, which is one of the most successful all-female bands in music history. After her Go-Go's days, Carlisle would go on to score six top-thirty singles and three top-forty albums in a chart-topping solo career of her own.

From The Go-Go's 1981 number one album Beauty and the Beat. This song was written by Go-Go's guitarist Jane Wiedlin along with Specials and Fun Boy Three singer Terry Hall. In 2000, Rolling Stone Magazine named "Our Lips Are Sealed" one of the 100 Greatest Pop Songs of all time.

You probably know Jane Wiedlin as the rhythm guitarist of the all-female multi-platinum New Wave band The Go-Go's. Wiedlin was part of the LA punk scene that spawned bands like X and The Dickies and went by the name "Jane Drano." As a member of The Go-Go's, she had a brief love affair with Specials and Fun Boy Three member Terry Hall.
