The first time I ever heard his music was when I borrowed a CD from the local library. It was summertime and I was in the mood for some reggae or island music. The public library near me is small, so it was easy to browse through the collection and find this gem. His background is unique: mother is Sicillian and father is Ugandan. Lou grew up in Germany, listening to reggae and R&B. After a visit to Miami when he was 18, he embraced the music of the "mambo kings" of the 1930s and 1940s.
