Dragonflies have been around for about 200 million years. These amazing creatures can be relied upon to appear season after season, filling the air with their acrobatics. The Common Green Darner Dragonfly, named after it resemblance to a darning needle, this dragonfly is one of the largest with a wingspan of about 80mm. It has large bulbous compound eyes. The White-faced Darter Dragonfly is named after its white nose. Some people say that it looks as though this dragonfly has had its face dipped in white paint. As with all Dragonfly species, this insect loves wet places as its nymphs remain aquatic for months or even years.
