Visiting the in-laws is quite delightful because the gardens are full of beauty and wonder. I can snap pictures of flowers, birds, insects and animals all in one visit. There are three hummingbird feeders hanging at their house and one day it was quite an adventure watching all the hummingbirds visit. Kentucky hummingbird watcher
The hummingbirds usually show up in Kentucky beginning in April and usually begin to leave sometime in late September or early October. I welcome their arrival and mourn thier departure. The hummingbird breed that we see are the ruby throated variety. Since Kentucky is a state known for 'rednecks', our family refers to these little fellas has 'redneck hummers'.

They Moved Out!
While hanging up some Christmas lights, I found this nest in the eaves of our home. I have sat on the deck or laid in the hammock and watched these amazing birds flit around our backyard. And to think right under our noses they built a nest, laid an egg and raised a baby chick without us knowing!
