Breed specific legislation should be illegal. Legislation blocking the ownership of "problem breeds" causes animal shelters to fill up with impossible-to-place animals who are then needlessly (senselessly) euthanized. Viciousness isn't based on the breed of the dog, but on the breeding of the animal and on the way that the dog is raised in its home. I think that Breed Specific Legislation, or BSL, is a very bad idea. It's like "racial profiling" in people. It's usually related to bigger, more aggressive breeds such as Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Akitas, and Chow-Chows. I've got news for you, ANY dog can be dangerous. I think it's the owner's fault, not the breed's. A well-trained dog, no matter what kind, will not bite without a reason. I have two Pit Bulls, and a 7 year old son.
