The Perplexing Platypus
What kind of animal is a Platypus?
I find the platypus totally fascinating. It's one of the few remaining monotremes, a very ancient evolutionary line of egg laying mammals. At the same time having both very primitive and very novel and advanced featured. Just an amazing animal.

Platypus: the amazing, playful and mysterious Australian mammal
Platypus are playful and elusive. I have seen Platypus in their natural habitat in a mountain creek at dawn in Northern New South Wales. P Is For Platypus
The platypus is a duck-billed mammal which lays eggs and is native to Australia. They are one of many strange and unusual animals to evolve on that continent. These semi-aquatic animals are actually venomous to humans, having a spur which can sting.
