At the bottom of my road is a section of the Leeds to Liverpool canal. It is a spot known as Micklethwaite Wharf and there is a green field site there that is home to around 70 white geese. There is a threat to the site, developers want to build 475 houses on it but I don't know if that has anything to do with the fact that only five goslings hatched there this year.
