40 Years of Bicycles
My life with bicycles.
I have been involved with bicycles all of my life. Some of my earliest memories took place in my Dad's bike shop. I have worked on bicycles, ridden bicycles and even raced bicycles. Bicycles have always been a big part of my life, and today I work in my own bicycle restoration workshop repairing, restoring and recycling bicycles. So here is my story of a life with bicycles.

At Colwood Wheel Works my main business is in restoring and repairing bicycles which are owned by my customers. However I often acquire old bicycles that for one reason or another are being scrapped. Rather than see a bicycle end up at the local tip I would rather make use of whatever can be salvaged from an old scrap machine. Sometimes these old bikes can be put back on the road. Many are stripped for spares.

If you ride a bicycle on the road, or on a bike path, for that matter, sooner or later you will find yourself dealing with the unwanted attentions of a dog. Whether you see the dog coming a long way off, or whether the dog lies in wait behind a bush and launches an ambush attack as you ride by, be prepared by learning some options to protect yourself and stop dogs chasing bicycles.
