Chicago has many nicknames such as: "The Windy City", The White City, The Second City, Chi-Town, Hog Butcher for the World, City of the Big Shoulders, The Chi and The City That Works. The earliest known reference to Chicago as the "Windy City" is from an 1858 Chicago Tribune article.
