Pysanky -- Ukrainian Russian Polish decorated Easter eggs
What are pysanky eggs?
A pysanka (plural: pysanky) is an egg decorated in the Ukrainian style using a wax-resist method. This is usually done on a chicken or goose egg, but any hard-shelled egg can be used even up to an ostrich egg. Many other cultures in Eastern Europe such as Russians, Poles, Slovaks, and Croatians decorate similar eggs, although there are some differences in the pysanky patterns used by each ethnic group. The ornate decorations of the famous Russian Faberge eggs are derivative of this custom.

We're all aware of how certain foods will stain if spilled on that clean white tablecloth, so why not use that to your advantage and make your own natural egg dyes this year?

The art of Faberge
The art of Carl Faberge is known worldwide for its Imperial elegance. He was the Imperial Goldsmith to the Royal House of Russia, best known for his famed Imperial Eggs. Fifty of these Eggs were known to be created; eight are presently considered lost. The detailing of the Imperial Eggs has inspired many affordable modern-day imitations (fortunate for would-be collectors). In addition to the Imperial Eggs, the House of Faberge also created fine works of jewelry such as brooches, tableware, a...
