The Stories Behind the Game
So, you just downed the latest raid boss in World of WarCraft, your guild is handing out the loot, and everyone is celebrating. This is a big achievement for all of you, but have you ever wondered why you did it? Of course you did it for the fun, for the prestige, and for the loot, but in the game, in the world you've been playing around inside for so much of your free time... what did this person do to deserve to die at the hands of ten or twenty five random adventurers? What is the meaning ...
WarCraft Cinematics
Blizzard has long been known for crafting top-notch cinematics for all of their video games, with graphics rendered with such detail that they rival that of some feature-length animated movies. With a combination of top-notch voice acting, animation, and direction, these fully-rendered bits of video game cinema portray some of the most pivotal moments in WarCraft history, the very best cinematics beginning with WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos. While much of the story is played out in gameplay a...
Shendelzare Silkwood
A night elf who was betrayed & murdered by her own sister, this hero came back from the grave for revenge. She carries with her the power to stun anyone constantly, demoralize enemies, boost the abilities of all allies, and even take the place of anyone she chooses. Much like Mirana, the vengeful spirit is a very powerful hero in the right hands.
A popular melee hero
He's a furbolg warrior that can devastate enemies with his ferocious melee attacks... many of which can happen in the blink of an eye. The ursa warrior's real damage comes through improved strength rather than agility, as his ultimate ability adds a portion of his health to every swing.
A feared fighter against any intelligence caster heroes. He can burn away all their mana, and deal it straight back to them as damage for any missing. No one can escape from him with his ability to blink around the Defense of the Ancients map unless they are an expert at juking or able to cast stuns. Character type: Agility. Team affiliation: Sentinel.
A character with two disabling skills, a very powerful single target spell, and the ability to drain the mana essences from any other character. This hero is very deadly when in the hands of a capable player. He's also easy for anyone new to the Defense of the Ancients game to learn how to play. Character type: Intelligence. Team affiliation: Scourge.
Priestess of the Moon
She's one of the heroes where player skill is far more important than her attributes. A generally weak hero, in comparison to some of the others, Mirana and her frostsaber tiger are a deadly duo in the right hands. Her abilities include being able to jump into (or out of) battle, snipe with a long range stunning attack, and be able to turn her entire team invisible at will. Character type: Agility. Team affiliation: Sentinel.
You can run from him, but he'll always be able to chase you. You can cast spells, but he can use your spent energies against you. You can hide... and that is the only way to win against this hero when he is fed unless working as a team. Character type: Agility. Team affilation: Sentinel.
Jahrakal the Berserker Warrior
A powerful hero in the right hands, but very often overestimated. His main strength lies in his stunning melee attacks, and quick attack speed. With the right items (& a bit of luck) the troll warlord might have someone permanently locked down while he axes them to death. He also boosts the speed of the rest of his team, allowing them to fight as he does. Fortunately, he's an easy DotA hero to kill... if you can keep him away from your mercenary and teammates for long enough. Character type:...
A fragile, but very deadly scorpion hero. Woe to anyone who underestimates him, for he can turn the tide in any battle with his crippling stuns and damaging ultimate ability. It is one of the highest damage spells in the game. A great choice for any mid or high skilled DotA-er, but tough to learn to use well as a new player. Character type: Strength. Hero affiliation: Neutral.
